Stronger than Kevlar: the world's first iPhone case made of vectran, a material used in astronautics, has been presented

Newcloth has released the world's first smartphone case made of vectran.

Details

Vectran is a liquid polyester fiber that is 20-50% stronger than Kevlar. In the 90's it was used to protect the Mars rover during the NASA Mars Pathfinder landing. In addition, this material is part of astronaut spacesuits and is used on the International Space Station.

The vectran case is designed for iPhone smartphones and supports MagSafe magnetic charging accessories. It is only 0.75 mm thick and weighs 15 g.

But Newcloth has released a limited number of them. Available in 2,000 copies of the ZPX-001 Martian Sunset for $99 and just 200 of the Martian Pathfinder 25th Anniversary Edition for $149.
