Tesla recalls nearly 3,500 Model Y electric cars 2022-2023 due to loose bolts
Tesla has been forced to recall more than 3,000 popular Model Y electric cars. This time the problem is not of a software nature.
Here's What We Know
Elon Musk has recently rebuked regulators for using the term 'recall', even though all you need to do to fix the problem is update the software. This time, the head of Tesla has no such argument.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has forced Tesla to recall 3,470 Model Y electric cars because bolts in the rear passenger seats are improperly tightened. This reduces the effectiveness of the safety system and can lead to injuries in the event of an accident.
According to the US regulator, it has received five warranty claims since December 2022 that may be caused by this defect. The manufacturer says it is not aware of any cases where loose bolts have led to injuries or deaths.
The Model Y 2022-2023 electric cars are subject to the recall. The company said only 4% of the 3,470 cars may have the defect. Tesla experts will check passenger seats and tighten bolts to factory specifications if necessary. No compensation will be paid to owners.
