Media: Ukrainian Armed Forces already using JDAM-ER smart aircraft bombs with a range of 72.5km
We recently wrote that the US is planning to transfer JDAM-ER smart aircraft bombs to Ukraine. It looks like the AFU is already using them.
Here's What We Know
This was reported by The War Zone, citing James Hecker, commander of the US Air Forces in Europe and Africa. According to him, the AFU already effectively uses JDAM-ER with GPS guidance. It is not yet known how many such missiles Ukraine received and how the AFU uses them. Perhaps the Ukrainian military has integrated the bombs into Soviet fighters, as it did with the AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missiles.
Flashback
The JDAM-ER (Joint Direct Attack Munition - Extended Range) is a high-precision aerial bomb with an extended range of 72.5km. The US developed it in conjunction with the Royal Australian Air Force. Carriers of the smart bomb are US fighters and drones.
