The US Department of Energy has published a full list of electric cars and hybrids whose buyers will receive a subsidy of up to $7500
Buyers of electric (EV) and hybrid (PHEV) vehicles in the US will be able to receive a tax deduction. The list of vehicles eligible for the deduction has been published by the US Department of Energy (DOE).
Here's What We Know
The amount of the tax credit depends on several factors, including the manufacturer's recommended cost of the car, the assembly location and the source of the battery components. The minimum subsidy is $3750 and the maximum is $7500.
The U.S. Department of Energy has updated the list of vehicles after the new requirements took effect. You can see the list of vehicles for which the tax credit is available in the table below.
The benefits are available to married couples and heads of households with an adjusted gross income (AGI) of up to $300,000 and $225,000 respectively. In other cases, the buyer's AGI must not exceed $150,000.
The maximum manufacturer's recommended price for a vehicle must be no more than $80,000 for pickups and SUVs or $55,000 for other vehicles. This amount does not include taxes or the cost of goods added by the dealer.
