Emile Morel, creative director of Beyond Good & Evil 2, dies at the age of 40
It has become known that the creative director of the "long-in-the-works" project Beyond Good & Evil 2, Emile Morel, has died at the age of 40.
Here's What We Know
"As beloved colleagues at Ubisoft Montpellier for over a decade, we've laughed and cried through good times and bad and created many great games together," said LightSpeed LA lead writer Monique Gabrielle Shrager, "Emile was very proud of Beyond Good and Evil 2, Space Monkeys, and his teammates. He will be greatly missed."
Prior to joining Ubisoft, Morel worked as a designer at Eden Games, where he contributed to the development of titles such as Test Drive Unlimited 2 and 2008's Alone in the Dark.
The development of Beyond Good and Evil 2 was long and complex. The first information about the game was revealed by Ubisoft in 2008, but after that, there was almost a decade of silence. However, at E3 2017, the company returned to the project, announcing that the game would be a prequel.
