Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 6 will be able to recognise stop breathing movements during sleep

Samsung has announced a new useful feature for Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 6 users.

Here's What We Know

We are talking about the sleep apnea detection function. The BioActive sensor will be responsible for the function. They will analyse how the oxygen values in the blood are changing and get a calculated apnea-hypopnea index (AHI). It will take two sleep tracking sessions with over 4 hours of data to determine if the user has apnoea symptoms. The new feature has received approval from Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) and will be available on the Samsung Health Monitor app early next year for South Korean users.

Flashback

Sleep apnoea is a common problem worldwide that involves breathing stoppage during sleep, which can lead to decreased oxygen supply to the body and other complications. For example, hypertension, cardiac dysfunction, stroke or cognitive impairment.
