The US Department of Defence has shown footage of one of the Marine Corps training exercises. Mock-ups of two Chinese aircraft can be seen on the video.
Here's What We Know
The published footage shows mock-ups of Chinese Chengdu J-7 and J-20 Mighty Dragon fighter jets. The first is a Chinese version of the Soviet MiG-21 aircraft. The latter, on the other hand, is a fifth-generation fighter that was copied from the American F-22 Raptor.
The Marine Corps conducted the training at the Atlantic Proving Ground in North Carolina. Marines from the Strategic Unmanned Aircraft Systems Support Squadron, 167th Light Helicopter Squadron, 223rd Marine Strike Squadron and 2nd Low Altitude Air Defence Battalion participated.
The Marines used R80D SkyRaider unmanned platforms. The purpose of the training was to evaluate the effectiveness of the Silvus Technologies-equipped drones.
