Sony PS5 update: improved DualSense audio, new features in Screen Share and power indicator brightness adjustment
Sony continues to improve its latest generation game console and released an update for Playstation 5, which added new features to the Screen Share function, improved sound in the speakers and microphone on DualSense controllers, as well as enabled the ability to adjust the brightness of the power indicator.
Here's What We Know
As part of the new update, Sony has worked on the sound in the DualSense and DualSense Edge wireless controllers to improve the audio volume in game and voice chat. The microphones on both controllers have also been improved with a new machine learning model that suppresses background noise such as button presses.
The Screen Share feature on the PS5 has also gained pointers and emoji reactions, allowing other players to draw an instructional line on a shared screen to highlight areas or objects. Viewers can also send emoji-reactions to the screen share host, such as when he or she tackles a boss in the game. These pointers and emoji can be turned off if they interfere with gameplay. An update to the PlayStation mobile app will be released later this month that will allow iOS and Android users to utilise these new Share Screen interactions.
Sony has also given PS5 owners the ability to adjust the brightness of the PS5's power indicator light as part of this update. You can now choose from three new settings: dim, medium and bright (default). However, you won't be able to turn off the power indicator completely.
