Focus on quantity rather than quality due to the pandemic: Disney gives reason why its latest films have failed
In 2023, not a single Disney film earned one billion dollars at the box office. This happened for the first time since 2014. However, the company gave its reason why the latest films failed.
Here's What We Know
Disney insider Matt Belloni told us what factors Disney considers to be the cause of financial (and other) failures.
The company blames the low quality of its projects and not the best financial results on the streaming focus required during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The emphasis was on producing as much content as possible for Disney+ and Hulu during the epidemic, not on quality.
Also, the company was not prepared to produce so much content, and Disney made decisions without thinking them through. Ultimately, all of these factors combined to damage the content.
But now those who work at Disney are seeing a normal rhythm and working environment again, which will lead to better films.
It's good that Disney understands the "quality" of its recent projects, but now I would like to see mistakes learned, as well as films/animated films that are worth spending my time and money on.
