Remedy's financial report: Max Payne 1&2 remakes have the same budget as Alan Wake 2

For some players, the Finnish studio Remedy became a real discovery in 2023 with its survival horror Alan Wake 2. Now, the studio has published a financial report that reveals several interesting facts.

Here's What We Know

Remedy earned 33.9 million euros for the whole of 2023, which is 22.2% lower compared to 2022, when the company received 43.6 million euros. The operating loss for 2023 was 28.6 million euros.

The studio explained the decline in revenue and profit by increasing investments in current projects. And €7.2 million was written off due to a project codenamed Kestrel (formerly Vanguard).

It also became known that Remedy acquired the full rights to the Control franchise from 505 Games for €17 million.

And finally, new details about Max Payne 1&2 remakes have emerged. Their budget will be the same as in Alan Wake 2.

Speaking of Alan Wake 2. In early February 2024, 1.3 million copies were sold. Although the game has not yet paid off, it has already recouped most of the money invested. Theoretically, the game should be profitable this year.

The studio expects Condor, Control 2, and Max Payne 1&2 remakes to move to the next stages of development during the first half of 2024.

At the same time, Remedy is still considering whether it will publish Condor and Control 2 on its own or find a new partner.

In conclusion, Remedy's long-term focus is on creating a Remedy Connected Universe with Alan Wake and Control.
