No longer a rumour: Paramount Studios to announce Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover
Fans, it's now official! Paramount Pictures have announced that they will be making a Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover in feature film format.
Here's What We Know
During a presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Paramount Pictures president and CEO Brian Robbins revealed that Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the studio's renowned producer responsible for the successful blockbuster Transformers franchise and G.I. Joe films, has extended his contract and is ready to create another project after the upcoming Transformers One.
We are talking about the Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover, which has not yet been officially titled. It is stated that the film will be a sequel to "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts".
Producers of the film will be Steven Spielberg, Michael Bay, Mark Vahradian, Tom DeSanto and Don Murphy.
As a reminder, rumours of a Transformers and G.I. Joe merger have been long and persistent. In February this year, di Bonaventura hinted that it wasn't such a rumour, with the words: "we are going to deliver on the promise we made".
"We've talked about it since the beginning of the franchise because the fans have been like, 'Come on, when you are going to do Joe?!' The truth of the matter is there's so many great Transformers characters that we didn't feel like we needed to rush and do G.I. Joe. But you also want an organic way, otherwise it feels like a cynical exercise.".
When We Can Expect It
The upcoming project doesn't have an exact release date yet.
