Not yet a fiasco, but very close: online shooter The Finals failed to live up to Nexon's expectations

In December 2023, Embark Studios and Nexon Publishing released The Finals, a free-to-play online shooter.

The game showed excellent initial results, attracted hundreds of thousands of gamers and for some time was on the rumour. But several months passed and almost nobody remembers about The Finals, and the shooter rarely has more than 15 thousand players (on Steam) at the same time.

Despite the initial success, The Finals did not live up to Nexon's expectations.

Nexon published a financial report, which will hardly interest gamers, but there is a noteworthy moment in it.

The Korean publisher stated that the financial results and popularity of The Finals did not match the company's original estimates. The game was not able to keep the attention of gamers for a long time, but Nexon does not plan to stop supporting it and expects that the innovations of the third season will gradually increase the public's interest in the network shooter and increase its popularity among fans of this genre.

The Finals development strategy is being worked on by the Korean Live Operations team, they are trying to understand what players are not satisfied with in the shooter and will offer solutions to the problems.

The third season of The Finals is expected to launch in June.
