YouTube Music is working on a feature that will allow users to vote for playlists
Popular music service YouTube Music is working on introducing a new feature that will allow users to rate playlists. Currently, the service displays the total number of times a playlist has been listened to, but does not show how it has been received by other users. However, this may change soon.
Here's What We Know
According to our colleagues at Android Authority, references to the ability to vote for playlists have been found in the app's code. This feature is under development and it is not yet known if it will become officially available. The voting setting will presumably allow you to choose who can vote: all users, only playlist collaborators, or disable the ability to vote altogether.
YouTube Music's competitor, Spotify, already offers a similar feature, showing the number of playlist saves. YouTube Music's innovation is likely to give more control over this process. While the feature has yet to launch and there's no definite information on when it will arrive, the code is already present in the app, which could mean it will be activated soon.
It is not yet clear whether these votes will affect playlist search rankings, but it is assumed that this feature will be there. This innovation could be a significant step in developing the service and improving user interaction with the platform.
