Google Meet update adds support for over 50 languages for translated subtitles
Google Meet, a popular video conferencing application, has received a significant update that expands the language capabilities of the service. Now users can use translated subtitles in 52 languages, as well as hidden subtitles in 11 new languages, including Ukrainian.
Here's What We Know
The new features will be available to both Workspace customers and personal Google accounts. With the latest update, the number of fully supported languages has reached 69, allowing for more than 4,600 language pairs.
It's important to note that from 22 January 2025, translated subtitles will be available exclusively for Google Workspace customers using Gemini. Until that date, the feature will be available in several Gemini add-ons, including Gemini Enterprise and Gemini Education Premium. The new subtitling languages are already available to all Google Workspace users and do not require an additional charge.
