Flashback
The C-27J Spartan is a multi-role tactical military transport aircraft developed by the Italian company Alenia Aeronautica (now Leonardo) in co-operation with the American Lockheed Martin. The aircraft entered service in the early 2000s. The C-27J is designed to perform a wide range of missions, including troop transport, cargo transport, medical evacuation and amphibious assault.
The aircraft is powered by twin Rolls-Royce AE 2100-D2 turboprop engines. It provides high manoeuvrability and the ability to take off and land on short and unprepared runways. The C-27J can carry up to 60 soldiers or 46 casualty stretchers, as well as large cargo.
