Samsung received fewer pre-orders for the new foldable Galaxy Fold 6 and Flip 6 smartphones compared to the Fold 5 and Flip 5 last year
Samsung is struggling with the popularity of its new Galaxy Fold 6 and Galaxy Flip 6 foldable smartphone models in its home market in South Korea. According to The Korea Herald, the number of pre-orders for these devices has dropped by almost 10 per cent compared to last year.
Here's What We Know
Samsung received 910,000 pre-orders for the Galaxy Fold 6 and Flip 6 this year, compared to 1.02 million pre-orders for their predecessors last year. Despite the decline in sales, Samsung managed to attract more young buyers. The share of pre-orders from users aged 20-30 rose from 43 per cent to almost 50 per cent. Among the new models, the Galaxy Flip 6 proved to be more popular, garnering around 60% of all pre-orders, while the Galaxy Fold 6 took the remaining 40%. This is also an improvement for Samsung as the share of the more expensive model increased from 30% to 40%.
Actual sales of the new Galaxy Fold 6 and Flip 6 are expected to start from 24 July.
