It's a fiasco: analysts named the main reasons for the failure of Sony's online shooter Concord

Competitive shooter Concord was probably the biggest failure of Sony's gaming division. Gamers were immediately extremely sceptical about the Firewalk project, but no one expected such a deplorable release.

Here's What We Know

According to GameDiscover, Concord's total sales are believed to be around 10k on Steam and around 15k on PlayStation. Peak online in Steam is 697 people, and at the time of writing there are 37 people in the game.

It's a fiasco: analysts named the main reasons for the failure of Sony's online shooter Concord-2

IGN portal asked analysts to name the reasons for the failure of Concord and they named two main factors that do not directly relate to the quality of the game:

  1. Concord should have been made conditionally free, rather than trying to sell it for $40.
  2. The need to register a PSN account made the game unavailable in three hundred countries and regions.

The game, which took eight years and a huge budget to develop, is not only unimpressive in quality, but also can't compete with numerous online shooters such as Overwatch 2, Apex Legends and Valorant. Concord is trivially outdated and five years late to the trend.

We should probably expect Sony to make Concord free-to-play in the near future, but it's unlikely to save the game.
