Samsung is gearing up to release a new mid-range smartphone next year, the Galaxy A56, which is rumoured to get a significant improvement in its selfie camera.

Here's What We Know

Unlike previous models in the A5x series, which featured a 32-megapixel selfie camera, the Galaxy A56 will have a 12-megapixel front-facing camera. While this may seem like a downgrade at first glance, the new camera should actually deliver better quality pictures thanks to improved image processing, better light capture, and improved subject focus. For example, the Galaxy S24's 12MP selfie camera shoots much better than the Galaxy A55's 32MP selfie camera.

The main camera of the Galaxy A56 will remain unchanged and will include a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle and a 5MP macro lens. While the macro camera remains a weak link, the improved selfie camera should greatly increase the appeal of the new Galaxy A56 to users who frequently take self-portraits.

The Galaxy A56 is likely to be unveiled in March or April next year, following Samsung's traditional launch schedule.
