Qualcomm and MediaTek may have a competitor: AMD plans to enter the smartphone market with Ryzen processors

According to a new report, AMD is considering entering the smartphone market. Insiders claim that AMD is in talks with several smartphone manufacturers to introduce its Ryzen AI processors into mobile devices. If the rumours are confirmed, AMD will become a competitor to such companies as Qualcomm and MediaTek, which already dominate in this area.

Here's What We Know

Qualcomm recently unveiled its flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and also entered the laptop processor market this year with the Snapdragon X Elite chip. MediaTek, meanwhile, launched its flagship Dimensity 9400 chipset and plans to collaborate with NVIDIA to create an artificial intelligence chip for PCs.

If AMD is successful, the company will be able to offer impressive graphics performance on smartphones thanks to its RDNA architecture, which will particularly appeal to gamers and content creators. However, AMD will need time to reach the level of rivals Qualcomm and MediaTek.

AMD's expansion into the smartphone market could significantly change the current balance of power in the industry.
