In addition, the president has the authority to transfer weapons, vehicles and other equipment worth $5.6 billion. Much of this authority is expected to remain available to the next administration.
A new aid package for Ukraine is expected to be announced by the end of the year. In early 2025, the Defence Contact Group for Ukraine, organised by Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, will meet to coordinate support for Ukraine from 57 countries.

While the United States is the largest donor of aid to Ukraine, 16 other countries have allocated a larger share of their GDP to support Ukrainian defence. The goal of US aid is to ensure that Ukraine has a strong position in future negotiations with Russia to ensure its survival.
It is worth noting that the Russians suffer losses of up to 1,200 people a day on the battlefield, but they can still replenish these losses, the official said. However, this resource is being depleted, and this dynamic cannot last forever.
The involvement of North Korea on Russia's side is also not bringing the desired results. Its troops, mostly special forces, have no combat experience, which affects their effectiveness. North Korean command and control centres suffer significant losses inflicted by Ukrainian forces.
