Valve has announced new measures to combat smurf accounts in Dota 2 during its Frostivus event. This initiative is aimed at improving the gaming experience for all players, especially those who face problems related to the use of alternative accounts.

Here's What We Know

"Smurfs" in Dota are experienced players who rent or create accounts with a lower rating to play against weaker players.

According to the new rules, Valve will actively monitor and ban accounts that are found to be smurfs. This decision was made in response to numerous complaints from players who noted that such accounts spoil the atmosphere of the game and make matches more difficult.

Frostivus is a traditional winter event in Dota 2 that brings new elements, including festive events and cosmetic items. However, as practice shows, it is during this period that the number of "smurfed" accounts increases, which negatively affects the overall balance of the game.

And Valve has already blocked 65 thousand smurf accounts. The main thing is that the trend of blocking such accounts continues.
