Apple has announced that some Siri features that were supposed to be available in iOS 18 will take longer than expected to be developed and will probably appear only in iOS 19.

Here's What We Know

In a statement, the company confirmed the delay and explained that new features for a more personalised Siri that can take into account the user's context and integrate with other applications require additional time to implement. Over the past few months, Apple has already improved Siri by making it more conversational and integrating it with ChatGPT, but now the company is forecasting the release of these features over the next year.

Analysts, including John Gruber, suggest that Siri features may be delayed until 2026, when iOS 19 is released. Apple usually avoids public statements about delays, so this announcement looks rather unusual. The new Siri features should include the ability to track emails, messages, files, photos, and other data, as well as improved integration with apps.

Apple originally planned to introduce an LLM version of Siri, similar to ChatGPT, in iOS 19, but now this feature is likely to be delayed until iOS 20. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman notes that new Siri features may not appear until next year, and there are even suggestions that they may be completely redesigned.

Therefore, users are likely to get these features no earlier than in the iOS 19 update.

Apple has recently introduced a powerful M3 Ultra chip with graphics performance of 80 cores, and the first test results confirm its high potential.
