The problem is still with Series S: Black Myth: Wukong's game director gave the reason why the game never came out on Xbox
The year 2024 is over, and the hit Chinese action game Black Myth: Wukong hasn't been released on Xbox.
For many months insiders and analysts tried to find out the reason for the delay of this release, and in the end there were two equally realistic versions: a secret contract with Sony for console exclusivity and the inability to release the game due to the limitations of the Xbox Series S.
As a reminder, Microsoft's policy dictates that all games that are released on Xbox must also run correctly on the inherently weak and technically outdated Series S. A few months ago, Microsoft assured that Black Myth: Wukong is not released on American consoles not because of optimisation problems, but it seems that the company was still a bit of a liar.
Here's What We Know
Commenting on Another Monkey King triumph: Black Myth: Wukong won the top award at The Steam Awards 2024. at The Steam Awards 2024, game director Yocar-Feng Ji took to Chinese social network Weibo to thank gamers and make a small statement.
According to him, Black Myth: Wukong didn't release on US consoles due to memory issues on the Series S. The main obstacle is 10 GB of total memory on Microsoft's weak console, which is critically low for the correct operation of such a technologically advanced game.
Dear Destined Ones, the new year has indeed brought us new joys to celebrate!

The developer has also stated that it will take "several years of painstaking work" to optimise Wukong for Xbox, but it's not entirely clear whether this is a statement of fact or artistic exaggeration. It's possible that it's a veiled admission that the game will never make it to Xbox, at least until Microsoft revises its policy.
