The media has repeatedly mentioned that Nintendo's new console will support its own image scaling technology, similar to NVIDIA's DLSS. Publicly, the Japanese company has not commented on these rumours, but the network drew attention to the patent, which confirms the presence of such a possibility.

Here's What We Know

The discovered patent describes a machine learning technology that scales the resolution of games, and not only allows to improve the quality of graphics without burdening the console hardware, but also reduces the size of the installation file of the game.

Patent quote:

A game with native 4K textures might require 60GB, but native 1080 might only require 20GB (which would allow the game to fit on a 32GB Switch cartridge). The idea is to do 4x real-time scaling on the device.

Since Nintendo has no plans to give up selling games on cartridges, this technology would allow even the largest games to fit on them.

It remains to wait for official information from the manufacturerAn Italian website has revealed a possible launch date for the Nintendo Switch 2, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be announced on January 8).
