Garmin watch users have experienced an issue after the latest software update where their devices have been freezing on the screen with a "blue triangle" and unable to boot.

Here's What We Know

The company explained that they have found a solution to the issue that was causing some devices to freeze on the startup screen. However, a factory reset may be required to fix the situation, which may result in the loss of some data.

Depending on the device model, users may need to perform a factory reset. In some cases, simply resetting the power to the device and syncing it to the Garmin Connect app on your smartphone or through Garmin Express on your PC is sufficient. The company has also provided additional information for those whose devices continue to malfunction after a power reset.

For Forerunner series watches, you need to switch off the device, then press and hold the Start/Stop and Back buttons until you hear a beep. Then release the Start/Stop button, but keep holding the Back button until the second beep. The watch will display the language selection screen, and if it was previously connected to your phone, you will need to disconnect the device from the Bluetooth settings before continuing with the reset.

If the device has not been synced for a long time, Garmin warns that a factory reset may result in the loss of some data, including Garmin Wallet information, Connect IQ content such as watch faces, and most importantly, Body Battery information. However, after syncing with Garmin Connect, most (if not all) data should be recovered.
