LinkedIn has achieved a record $2 billion in premium subscription revenue over the past 12 months and posted overall year-on-year growth of 9%.
Here's What We Know
With over 1 billion users, the social networking platform continues to grow steadily, although its role in Microsoft's financial statements is not as prominent as it was when it was an independent company.
On Wednesday, during the announcement of Microsoft's quarterly results, it was noted that LinkedIn's revenue grew by 9% year-on-year. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confirmed that LinkedIn's premium subscription revenue has exceeded $2 billion over the past 12 months.
According to the data, in March 2024, revenues from premium subscriptions amounted to $1.7 billion, which is about 12.5% of LinkedIn's total revenue, which in 2024 was estimated at $16.2 billion. According to LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky, building a $2 billion subscription business is an achievement that only a few digital companies in history have managed.
Despite LinkedIn's success, Microsoft is actively developing other business lines, including artificial intelligence (AI), which generates much higher revenues. According to Nadella, AI revenue has grown to $13 billion a year, up 175% year-on-year. And LinkedIn continues to focus on the development of premium subscriptions, and new AI tools for job search and professional development are already actively used by 40% of premium users.
