As Path of Exile 2 gathers momentum, the fate of the original game is becoming increasingly uncertain. The latest expansion pack, Settlers of Kalguur, was released on 26 July, and update 3.26, which was supposed to be released in February, has been postponed indefinitely.

Here's What We Know

In a recent video, the game's director Jonathan Roger explained that the ideal time for 3.26 would be the end of October, before the launch of Path of Exile 2 Early Access. However, due to the enormous effort required for the sequel, this was not possible. December was also ruled out, as launching immediately after the sequel was not ideal, and the holiday season prevented a January release.

Delays in the release of Path of Exile 2, as well as glitches, balance issues, and other technical problems, meant that Rogers could not divert resources from the sequel to the original game. DLC 3.26 will be released only after the 0.2.0 update for Path of Exile 2 is completed, plus additional support time.

Despite the setbacks, Rogers assured fans that 3.26 is still being prepared using staff not needed for Path of Exile 2 patches. As soon as the 0.2.0 update is stable, the team will focus fully on 3.26. However, there is no confirmed release date yet.
