Mojang has no plans to create Minecraft 2 even though the original is 15 years old

Minecraft has already turned 15, but Mojang has no plans to replace it with a sequel. IGN asked about the possibility of a sequel to the best-selling game of all time (if you don't count Tetris). Ingela Garney, the executive producer of Minecraft Vanilla, gave a cheerful but clear answer: "Do you think we're going to have an Earth 2? No, no, there will be no Minecraft 2."
Here's What We Know
"We've been around for 15 years," said Garney. "We want to be around for at least another 15 years, so we work as a team. We are defining the vision and strategy of our game to see what we can do in that time."
The only problem is that the engine is outdated and it takes more time to implement new features, but this is a reason for Mojang to think about a sequel. "I think the age of the game is a challenge," Garney said. "It's a 15-year-old platform, 15-year-old technology, which slows us down in a way. That's why other new games have new engines and they can run very fast. So I would say that technology and our age are our biggest challenges."
Nevertheless, Minecraft remains one of the most popular games in the world, and continues to develop actively. For example, in the next updates this year, Minecraft will receive "vivid visuals" and Happy Gusts. There are also no plans to switch Minecraft to a free-to-play model.
