Sony recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of the God of War franchise, and according to Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb, a new "side story project" will be released this year that will focus on Kratos' life in Greece. Grubb confirmed that the game will not be a remaster of the collection, but will be a new project that expands the God of War universe.

Here's What We Know

He also clarified that remasters of the original God of War trilogy may be released during the celebration, but no new announcements are planned for State of Play. Grubb drew attention to rumours about a collection of remasters, but according to him, there has been no official confirmation of this yet.

The mentioned side project may be related to the new reports that appeared in February about a game that will develop the theme of fatherhood in the story of young Kratos and his father. Given that Kratos did not know his father was Zeus until the events of God of War 2, it is likely that his interaction with his father in the new game will be depicted through mortal figures.

There are also rumours about God of War being set in ancient Egypt, which will be a continuation of the themes related to Greek and Norse mythology.
