For the first time since Android 8.1 Oreo, Google may release an interim version of Android 12.1

Today we wrote about that Google released Android 12 Beta 5 and is preparing for public release. And now there's information about the next version, and it doesn't appear to be Android 13.

Android 12.1?

Hints of future version have been found in the OS code. Specifically, enthusiasts noticed that Android 12 matches the API level 31, while Android 13 will get API 33. Where does  API 32 go? There is a direct indication at that API level 32 will get some version of sc-v2. the sc - is an acronym for the internal "sweet" name of Android 12 - Snow Cone (fruit ice in a cone).

While v2 seems to indicate an intermediate version of the operating system - most likely Android 12.1. Google has previously practiced releasing such versions - such as Android 8.1, Android 7.1 and so on. The latest was Android 8.1 Oreo, after which improvements and fixes began to be added to monthly security patches.

It is also not ruled out that API Level 32 will be linked to Android for some other platform, as was the case with API Level 20 and Android 4.4w for wearable devices.
