HTC Vive Flow: a compact VR helmet that uses your smartphone as a remote control

HTC has unveiled its new Vive Flow VR helmet. The novelty received compact dimensions and weight of 189 grams. 

What is known

The gadget is equipped with two speakers and two microphones with noise and echo cancellation system. The helmet has 4GB of RAM, as well as 64GB of storage and a cooling system.

HTC Vive Flow has two displays with a resolution of 1600×1600 pixels. The screens received a refresh rate of 75 Hz and a viewing angle of 100 degrees. The novelty is powered through the USB-C port. HTC has managed to reduce the power consumption of the helmet to 7.5 watts. It allows you to charge the gadget from a power bank or smartphone. The other interesting feature of the device is its hot-swappable power function . It allows you to switch the helmet to another power source within 5 minutes.

There are adjustable focus lenses on each side of the headset. The HTC Vive Flow comes without a remote control. In its place is a smartphone. The helmet has Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi and Miracast support. 

Price and when to expect

Sales of the HTC Vive Flow will start in November, but you can pre-order it now. The asking price is $499. Everyone who pre-orders will receive a case and free VR content as a gift.
