The Boring Company received permission to build a public transportation system in Las Vegas
Clark County Commissioners voted unanimously Wednesday to approve plans for The Boring Company's Vegas Loop system. The decision brings Ilon Musk's venture one step closer to the day when it can begin laying the 47 kilometers of tunnel. Once completed, the 51-station network will connect various hotels and other locations between Allegiant Stadium and the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. It now remains for the company to obtain the necessary permits before beginning the excavation work.

Boring President Steve Davis told the Las Vegas Review that the company will build the system in phases. Once it completes an individual station, it will open immediately. Boring hopes to build five to 10 stations in the first six months of the project, and then 15 to 20 stations each year. The goal is to complete construction within three years.
The Boring Company is making ambitious statements about how efficient the Vegas Loop will be once construction is complete. Davis said the network will carry about 57,000 passengers per hour. He also said it will be a point-to-point system, meaning passengers won't have to stop at every station on their way to their destination.
The funny thing about this news is that we are not talking about supersonic trains in vacuum tunnels at all, but simply about an underground tunnel system for electric car taxis.
