Pixel 6 scanner unlocks smartphone using someone else's fingerprints, but Google keeps talking about 'improved security algorithms'

The recently introduced Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones are being advertised by Google as "the new standard for mobile security", but just weeks after release, complaints from disgruntled users continue to pour in.

What's not

 right?

This time the fingerprint scanners installed in the Pixel 6 were criticized. One of owners told an interesting story on forum Reddit: his gadget unlocked by recognizing his wife's finger. And this despite the fact that her fingerprints were not registered to the system, and the smartphone was only supposed to recognize her husband's fingerprints. Other Reddit users have noticed similar cases, too.

By the way, just a couple of days ago, the network was complaining about the same Pixel 6 sensors, which are too slow and not always accurate. And at Google has responded to this, stating, as always, that it's not a bug, but a fix. According to representatives of the company, 1 "improved security algorithms", as they can take longer to authenticate user fingerprints. Which well, pretty ironic for a phone that gives the green light to unregistered fingerprints.

Perhaps the problem is that the Pixel 6 line uses an outdated optical fingerprint scanner, which works by reflecting light off your finger. The new ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, first introduced in the Samsung Galaxy S10 series, is a faster and more reliable alternative because it uses inaudible sound waves instead of light. This allows it to work well even through dirt, oil, grime or water. Maybe if Google had favored the latter, the problems and  would not have been.
