Google Pixel 6 smartphone with update learned to track heart rate and breathing
Google has released an update for Google Pixel 6 smartphones, which adds heart rate and respiration tracking to the Google Fit app.
How does it work?
This option successfully works on the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a smartphones and was announced for the Pixel 6 line back in March. But only now the new flagships have received this feature, yes and then - only Pixel 6 and far from all models. The thing is that the feature is currently in early access, and Google says it "is being finalized and may be removed".
Since the Pixel 6 has no dedicated sensors, the sensing is done by the camera and flash. In order for the gadget to measure your heart rate and breathing, you simply need to put your finger to the camera and wait a few seconds for the app to track changes in the color of your finger. The problem is that the camera and flash on flagships are far apart - this is apparently what caused the delay in triggering the option.
But keep in mind that the feature is experimental, and even after it is fully ready to use, it is recommended not rely on data for medical diagnosis.
Both features are available through Google Fit with a tag "early access" for some users. When you get them they will appear at the bottom of the "Home tab" or in the menu "Overview"> "Key Indicators".
