Paul McCartney clarifies that there is nothing artificial about an AI-created The Beatles song

The Beatles band member Paul McCartney has explained how the musicians used artificial intelligence to create a new song.

According to McCartney, the AI didn't synthesize or create anything. The algorithms merely extracted John Lennon's voice from an old demo and cleaned the recording of noise.

"Can’t say too much at this stage but to be clear, nothing has been artificially or synthetically created. It’s all real," he wrote.

The idea to use artificial intelligence to reconstruct the song came about while filming a documentary about The Beatles called Get Back. The film also used algorithms to clean sound from archive recordings by separating voices from background noise.
