AI robots speak at UN press conference and say they have no plans to steal jobs or rebel against humans
The UN technology agency gathered a group of human-like robots at a press conference and invited journalists to ask them questions as part of the AI for Good conference.

According to the organisers, the aim of the event was to showcase the capabilities and limitations of robotics. Their creators also spoke at the press conference, and then journalists asked questions of the androids.
Reporters were asked to speak slowly and clearly to the robots. They were warned that delays in answering could be due to the internet connection and not the devices themselves.
This did not prevent awkward pauses, sound problems and some awkward or inconsistent responses. It is also unknown to what extent the devices have been programmed by humans.
According to the robots, they may be more effective leaders than humans. At the same time, they claim they will not take jobs away or revolt.
A total of nine robots took part in the press conference. Among them:
- Sophia - the first robotic innovation ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP);
- Grace, a medical robot;
- Desdemona, a rock star robot.
Two robots, Geminoid and Nadine, looked like their creators.
