Volkswagen's ID.Buzz autonomous electric vehicles will start carrying passengers in Germany

Volkswagen will start transporting passengers in Munich, including government officials, business partners and journalists, using ID.Buzz unmanned electric vans.

Here's What We Know

VW says the initial phase of testing will focus on vehicles operating in urban environments. The ID.Buzz vans will gain SAE Level 4 autonomous driving capability, allowing them to operate in ride-sharing and transport services.

The group's MOIA division will be the first company to use Volkswagen's autonomous vehicles. They will share travel data to help develop the technology and its future commercialised network.

Over the next few weeks, Volkswagen will continue to develop autonomous travel in Munich while expanding into the US.
