Intel announces Gaudi3 AI chip to compete with NVIDIA and AMD

Intel has unveiled its new Gaudi3 artificial intelligence chip, designed to compete with NVIDIA and AMD in this fast-growing market. The processor will go on sale in 2024.

The best-known AI models currently run on NVIDIA graphics chips, the leader in this segment. Gaudi3 claims to offer an alternative for companies developing AI solutions.
According to Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, generative AI will be one of the key trends of 2023. In this regard, the company also announced Intel Core Ultra processors for PCs and laptops, and fifth-generation Xeon processors for servers. All of them are optimised for AI tasks.
While Core Ultra and Xeon will not be able to fully replace NVIDIA GPUs when running applications like ChatGPT, they are suitable for simpler AI tasks, such as background blurring in video conferencing.
Intel shares rose 1 per cent on the back of the announcement of the new chips.
