Spotify is testing playlists created by artificial intelligence

Music streaming service Spotify has launched testing of a new feature that lets you create playlists using artificial intelligence.

The "Create playlist with Al" option is available to some users in the Spotify app. This is done by entering a text prompt, such as "Energise with fun, rhythmic and positive songs". The AI then generates a playlist based on the given parameters.

In a video published in TikTok, a user asked the service to create a playlist in the style of witch house. As a result, Spotify's AI picked up tracks by Pearly Drops, Grimes, Crystal Castles and others.

The company confirmed the fact of testing such a function, but did not say whether its public launch is planned.

Spotify has previously introduced separate AI-based services, including a recommendation system and podcast dubbing. So the new development fits into the company's overall strategy of using AI technologies.
