Google has renamed the Bard chatbot to Gemini and consolidated all AI products under that brand name
Google has announced a rebranding of its artificial intelligence technologies. Now all of them will be united under the name Gemini.
Here's What We Know
In particular, the chatbot Bard has changed its name to Gemini, and the AI features in Google Workspace office applications, previously known as Duet AI, have also become part of the Gemini portfolio.
Google has also released a dedicated Gemini mobile app for Android. It can be installed as the default assistant instead of Google Assistant. There is no app for iOS yet.
Another important update is the launch of Gemini Ultra 1.0. This is Google's most feature-rich AI system to date. It provides advanced chatbot capabilities, including better multimedia and logic tasks.
Access to Gemini Ultra is available as part of the paid Gemini Advanced subscription, which is part of the new $20 per month Google One AI Premium plan. It also includes 2 TB of Google Drive storage space and all the other features of the Google One subscription.
According to Google's head of AI at Google, Sissie Hsiao, Gemini will be an important milestone in the journey to create a "true AI assistant" and could eventually become as significant to the company as search.
