Elon Musk believes that AI will soon become smarter than the smartest person
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has predicted that AI will become smarter than the smartest human by 2026.
Here's What We Know
In an interview, Musk noted that artificial intelligence is limited by the capabilities of electricity and that the innovative version of Grok, a chatbot from his startup xAI, will be tested in May. However, he also added that the lack of advanced chips hinders the training of the Grok 2 model.
Last year, Musk founded xAI as a rival to OpenAI, which he sued for rejecting his proposal to develop AI for the benefit of humanity rather than profit. OpenAI denies the allegations.
Musk said that Grok 2 took about 20,000 Nvidia chips to train, and that Grok 3 will require 100,000 Nvidia H100 chips. At the same time, the chip shortage is not the only serious limitation for the development of AI. According to him, the increase in the amount of electricity will be crucial in the next year or two.
