iPhone users can now share CarKey digital keys with Google Pixel smartphone owners

Apple announced CarKey digital keys for iPhone users in the Wallet app in 2020, and has now expanded the technology's capabilities.

Here's What We Know

Apple, in collaboration with the Engineering Task Force aka IETF and other organizations, has created an industry standard for sharing digital keys across platforms. With this, iPhone users can now share car keys in the Wallet app with Google Pixel device owners via Messages, Mail and WhatsApp. To do this, you have to select a car key in Wallet and tap the "Share" button.

According to Apple, Google will soon expand this feature and owners of all smartphones with Android 12 and above will support digital keys.
