Sonos introduces Era premium speakers from $249 to compete with Apple HomePod and Google Nest
Sonos has announced a pair of top-of-the-range Era speakers. The new products are called Sonos Era 300 and Era 100.
Here's What We Know
We start with the Era 300. It's a more top-of-the-range smart speaker that gets six amps, four tweeters and two buffers. It supports Dolby Atmos and provides surround sound from multiple directions. If desired, two speakers can be combined to form a stereo pair.
The Sonos Era 300 is equipped with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth wireless adapters. USB-C is also on the list of interfaces. The speaker can be controlled by voice commands, including the Alexa virtual assistant, and AirPlay 2 technology will allow quick connection of Apple devices.
In the case of Sonos Era 100, the company did not support Dolby Atmos and surround sound. The number of amplifiers is reduced to three. It also got two tweeters and a midwoofer. The interface set is the same as for Era 300.
Price & When We Can Expect It
The Sonos Era 100 is priced at $249 / €279 / £249. The Era 300 is priced at $449 / €499 / £449. Both will go on sale on March 28, 2023 in black and white. The company promises to add support for Google Assistant in the future.
