AMD announced the first processors on Zen 5 architecture with a second-generation neural chip and RDNA 3+ graphics
AMD held a full presentation of Ryzen 8040 chips and made an announcement of Strix Point series. These are the first processors with Zen 5 cores.
Here's What We Know
Like Hawk Point (Ryzen 8040), Strix Point series includes mobile processors for notebooks. Their key feature will be a next-generation neural chip called XDNA 2.
AMD claims that the performance in artificial intelligence tasks will triple compared to XDNA. The neural processor in the Ryzen 8040 has a performance of 16 trillion operations per second, meaning that this will increase to 48 TOPS in the Strix Point series.
At the Advance AI event, the company did not disclose the name of the chips and their number. However, it is known that all processors will be manufactured using 4nm technology and will receive cores on Zen 5 architecture. The graphics subsystem will be built RDNA 3+ architecture.
The company is expected to reveal more information about the Strix Point series at CES 2024, which will take place in about a month in Las Vegas, Nevada. Laptops with the new chips will also be available in 2024.
