A few days ago, satellite images appeared showing Tu-95 strategic bombers covered with car tyres. As it turned out, the Russians protect tactical aircraft in a similar way.
Here's What We Know
Russian media published a photo that can see the fourth-generation Su-34 fighter-bombers with tyres on the wings and fuselage. Presumably, the rubber should take the blow during an attack by Ukrainian kamikaze drones or protect the aircraft from splinters.
The Russians started protecting their aircraft in this way after the Ukrainian Defence Forces carried out several strikes on airfields on Russian territory. In particular, MiG-29 and Su-30 fighters, Tu-22M3 rocket bombers and Il-76 military transport planes were hit or completely destroyed in a matter of days.
