Here's What We Know
The US Navy has signed a contract with Lockheed Martin, which includes Sikorsky. The agreement involves the production and delivery of six MH-60R Seahawk helicopters to the Norwegian government.
The press release, which was published on Lockheed Martin's official website, did not specify the amount of the deal. However, the US Department of Defence announced $364.3 million to the American defence giant.
Norway, thanks to the MH-60R Seahawk, will be able to perform a number of missions, including search and rescue operations, coastal and maritime patrols. Deliveries of all Seahawk helicopters will be completed by 2027.
The order from Norway is the second for Lockheed Martin in a fortnight. Earlier this month, Spain decided to purchase eight MH-60R Seahawk for the navy. In total, the company has delivered 330 helicopters to five countries and has orders for 64 helicopters for India, Greece, South Korea, Australia, Spain and now Norway.
