The US Air Force has officially confirmed the successful flight of a B-21 Raider nuclear bomber to Edwards Base
On 10 November 2023, the first ever sixth-generation aircraft made its debut flight. The B-21 Raider nuclear bomber flew early in the morning to Edwards Air Force Base, California.
Here's What We Know
The sixth-generation aircraft at the U.S. Air Force base will undergo additional flight testing. The successful flight and landing was confirmed by the military service. US Air Force spokeswoman Ann Stefanek said that the B-21 Raider landed at around 08:30 local time.
We've already seen video of the nuclear bomber flying over California. Later, Mike Henry and Andrew Kanei posted some spectacular photos of the sixth-generation aircraft.
Northrop Grumman will send five more bombers to Edwards Base in the future to form a test group. The company is now preparing to receive its first low-rate initial production contract.
It was recently revealed that initial production will not make Northrop Grumman profitable. The main reasons are rising labour costs and inflation, which does not spare fixed-price contracts.
