Best thing to happen to motorsports in 2022 - NASCAR driver made it to the championship finals by a trick from a video game, beating out five rivals at the finish line
On October 30, the Martinsville Speedway hosted another race in the American NASCAR Series. It attracted attention because one of the drivers was able to reach the finals thanks to a gimmick from a video game.

With a few hundred meters to the finish line, Ross Chastain was in tenth place, but he had to finish the race at least seventh to make it to the finals. He ended up finishing even higher.

Chastain used a trick from a 2005 NASCAR game he played as a kid on the Nintendo GameCube to accomplish this feat. He raced at full speed into the fence and used the wall to overtake his opponents. He ended up finishing in fifth place and was even able to set a record for fastest lap times.

Fernando Alonso, the Formula 1 champion, praised the American driver's maneuver. The Spaniard called the reception the best thing that happened to motorsport in 2022.
