Star Wars-based strategy from Bit Reactor and Respawn Entertainment uses Unreal Engine 5
Back in 2022, Electronic Arts announced a partnership between Respawn Entertainment and Bit Reactor, a studio created by former XCOM veterans, to develop a strategy game based on Star Wars. Although details are still scarce, recent events shed light on the progress of the project.
Here's What We Know
Bit Reactor's announcement about the vacancy for a senior lighting artist hints that the game is built on the Unreal Engine 5, which is responsible for creating lighting and cinematic levels. Experience with Unreal Engine 4+ is an advantage. In addition, the listing suggests that the game will be released on consoles, which is actually a rarity for strategy games.
Initially, EA reported that Respawn Entertainment was also working on a single-player first-person shooter based on Star Wars, but recent layoffs led to its cancellation. However, Bit Reactor assured that this will not affect the development of the strategy game.
