Lessons learned and conclusions drawn: CD Projekt RED has radically revised its approach to the development and testing of its new projects
The failed release of Cyberpunk 2077 and the scandals that accompanied it, became an important lesson not only for the Polish studio CD Projekt RED, but also for all gaming companies around the world. The main dissatisfaction of the players caused totally unsatisfactory technical condition of the most anticipated and most touted game of the last decade.
To fix the Polish developers took almost two years, and now, after the announcement of ambitious plans CD Projekt RED, many gamers worried, whether the situation with the new games and will repeat.
Technical Director Paweł Zawodny hastened to calm the public and said that the company has radically revised its approach to the testing of their projects. From now on, the developers will be testing their games for all platforms, not only for PC.
In addition, game designers from CD Projekt RED will implement the rule "always a working game". This means that the main elements of the games will be workable from the beginning of development, and their testing will be carried out in parallel with the creation of the project.
What is important, CD Projekt RED will open the internal testing department, which will be able to participate and external gamers. They will have the opportunity to try out all the elements of the new games and give their opinion on them.
Paweł Zawodny noted that the transition to the Unreal Engine 5 will help optimize the development and testing projects CD Projekt RED, although the company will not abandon their own development and will continue to develop them.
